Mathematics
The EHGTHS Mathematics Faculty prides themselves on delivering excellent teaching programs Stage 4 to 6, with a team of dedicated professional senior teachers, that are abreast of all reform programs from NESA that began in 2024.
The mathematic pathways offered include:
Stage 4 and 5 (Year 7-10)
The Mathematics K–10 Syllabus provides students with the opportunity to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in mathematics and numeracy. Students have the opportunity to develop increasingly sophisticated and refined mathematical understanding, fluency, communication, reasoning, analytical thought and problem-solving skills. These capabilities enable students to respond to familiar and unfamiliar situations by employing strategies to make informed decisions and solve problems relevant to their present and future needs.
Stage 4
- Hattie’s Visible Learning Model
- Pre and Post testing, aligning performance and understanding into Surface/ Deep/Transfer groups
Stage 5
- Mathematics Core (Leading to Numeracy/ Standard path in Stage 6)
- Mathematics Path (Leading to Advanced/ Extension path in Stage 6)
Years 11 and 12
The Mathematics Stage 6 syllabuses are designed to offer opportunities for students to think mathematically through questioning, communicating, reasoning and reflecting. They promote development of 21st-century knowledge, skills, understanding, values and attitudes and provide challenge. Students generalise, find connections, think critically and creatively, using appropriate technology to support mathematical activity.

Overarching these programs is access to Accelerated Learning Programs in every stage, High Potential Gifted Education (HPGE) and Life Skills.
