Religion and ethics
NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.
During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.
You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.
Visit the department’s website for more information about religion and ethics.
Parents/Carers of students who wish to participate in SRE must provide East Hills Girls' Technology High School with permission to attend SRE.
Participation letters are available in the school's enrolment kit or by request. Students continue in the same arrangements as previous year, unless a parent/caregiver has made a request in writing to withdraw the student from SRE. For more information, visit: Religion and ethics.
Students may choose from Islamic and Combined Christian classes.
SRE lessons will occur once per school term.
The program is run in accordance with Sections 32 and 33A of the Education Act 1990 (NSW). Approved providers Organisations must be approved to provide special religious education in public schools. To see the list of approved providers, please visit:
