Year 8 iSTEM Enrichment

Inspiring the Next Generation of STEM Innovators

The Year 8 iSTEM Enrichment program at East Hills Girls Technology High School provides selected students with an opportunity to extend their learning through engaging, hands-on experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The program is designed to develop students' curiosity, creativity and confidence while challenging them to apply their classroom knowledge to authentic problems and real-world situations. Students explore how STEM disciplines work together to drive innovation, solve problems and create technologies that have an impact on industry and society.

A Selective Enrichment Opportunity

Year 8 iSTEM is a selected enrichment class for students who demonstrate an interest and enthusiasm for STEM learning. The program provides students with opportunities to work collaboratively, investigate challenging problems and develop the skills needed for future study and careers in STEM-related fields.

Students are encouraged to become creative thinkers, effective communicators and confident problem-solvers while developing their understanding of emerging technologies and engineering practices.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

A key feature of the Year 8 iSTEM program is connecting classroom learning with the world beyond school. Students participate in activities, projects, industry experiences and excursions that allow them to see how STEM knowledge is applied in professional environments.

STEM in Action

The Austex Dies excursion demonstrated the value of learning beyond the classroom. Students were able to observe professional STEM environments, engage with industry experts and discover how technology and engineering are used to solve complex problems.

Experiences such as this help students see the possibilities that STEM can offer and inspire them to consider themselves as future innovators, designers, engineers and technology professionals.
