Multi-Categorical (MC) Class – Supporting Wellbeing, Learning and Belonging

East Hills Girls Technology High School offers a Multi-Categorical (MC) class that supports up to seven students from Years 7–11 whose primary disability relates to internalised mental health conditions (MH1). Placement in the MC class is determined through a Department of Education Access Request. Students must hold a Disability Confirmation, which may also identify additional learning needs, Autism, or intellectual disability alongside diagnosed mental health conditions.

The MC class is a valued part of our inclusive school community, providing a nurturing and structured environment that supports each student’s wellbeing, learning, and confidence. Individualised programs and targeted support ensure equitable access to education while fostering growth, resilience, and personal success.

A key feature of the program is the MC classroom environment, which plays a vital role in encouraging student attendance and engagement. Designed as a motivational and welcoming space, it reflects the individuality and personal strengths of each student. Calming colours, uplifting imagery, plants, music, and personalised décor help create a sense of ownership and belonging. The room also includes a quiet area with comfortable seating for students to rest or recharge when needed. This intentionally warm, supportive atmosphere helps students feel safe, valued, and inspired to participate fully in school life.
